Valencia's old town is a food lover's paradise, and staying near Torres de Serranos puts you at the centre of it all. After six years of hosting guests and eating our way through the neighbourhood, these are the restaurants we recommend again and again.
Tapas & Pintxos
Central Bar by Ricard Camarena is our number one pick for a reason. Tucked inside the Mercado Central, this Michelin-starred counter serves creative tapas made with products sourced metres away. Go in the morning when the market buzzes.
Sagardi on Carrer de Sant Vicent Martir offers excellent Basque pintxos at street level and serious grilled meats upstairs. The ground-floor bar is perfect for a pre-dinner bite; the restaurant upstairs is ideal for a full meal.
Tapas Boatella faces the Mercado Central and serves traditional Valencian tapas with fresh market produce. Unpretentious, local, and exactly what you want.
Fine Dining
La Voe offers refined Mediterranean cuisine in a design-forward setting. Lunch only, reservation essential. Prices are high but the quality matches.
Tatel Valencia brings Madrid's chicest restaurant concept to Valencia — modern Spanish cuisine, DJ sets, and a terrace that fills up on weekends.
The Essential Day Trip
For the definitive paella experience, head to El Palmar at the Albufera lake, 15 km south. This is where paella was invented. Take Bus 25 (40 minutes, €1.50) and combine it with a sunset boat ride on the lake. It's the best meal you'll have in Valencia.
All distances are measured from NeoBeds apartments on Carrer de Manyà.
